Easy File Locker is a handy and light-weight file lock software developed by XOSLAB.com. With this software, you can secure or lock your private files and folders. Other users will not be able to see, open, modify and delete the files and folders that you have protected with Easy File Locker.

If you forget your Easy File Locker's password, then the same thing also applies to you. So here are two methods to reset the password of Easy File Locker and retrieve files.

1: By deleting "user.dat" file
2: By using Safe Mode

Method 1: By deleting "user.dat" file

1: Navigating EFL Folder
Follow one of the given ways to navigate to the ELF folder.

C:\USERS\PUBLIC\DOCUMENTS\EFL

2: Click on Cortana icon or search box next to the Start button. Copy the given path of the EFL folder and paste it into the search box and then press the Enter key.

C:\USERS\PUBLIC\DOCUMENTS\EFL

3: You can do the above process manually by going to Start>Windows System>This PC or File Explorer>C: Drive>users>public>documents>EFL.

To reset the password, click on "Systems" and select "Set Password" from the options. Enter your new password in the "Set Password" pop-up window and click on "OK" button.

Method 2: By using Safe Mode

If you prefer the Safe Mode option, then you don't need to delete the "user.dat" file from the EFL folder. Simply you need to start the computer in Safe Mode and navigate to the file directory that you had protected with Easy File Locker.

In Safe Mode you can able to see, open, modify and delete the files and folders. To retrieve your files and folders, copy them from the selected directory and paste them to your desired location and then restart the system in normal mode. So here's how you can run your system in Safe Mode or in normal mode in Windows 10.

1: Open System Configuration
Type "msconfig" in the Run dialog box or type "System Configuration" in the search box and hit the Enter key. A "System Configuration" dialog box will open.

2: Boot options and Restart

To be transparent, I've tested these methods for Easy File Locker v2.2 (64bit) in Windows 10 only. In my case, it worked perfectly without hesitation. I hope these methods may work with the earlier versions of Windows and Easy File Locker too. If you are using the older version of Windows or Easy File Locker, then you can give it a try.
